About Pact

The Physical Activity Capricorn Taskforce (PACT) is a local partnership group made up of over 10 organisations (government and non-government). Active PACT Member agencies include: Rockhampton Regional Council, Qld Health, Department of Local Government Sport & Recreation, 10,000 Steps, Qld Police, Cancer Council, Active After-School Communities, CQUniversity and Life Stream.
 

PACT Mission

To build sustainable partnerships across the public, private and non-government sectors for coordinated and collaborative action that advocates for and encourages Rockhampton Regional residents and visitors to live a healthy and active lifestyle. 
 

PACT Vision

To have a Rockhampton Region that provides support, encouragement and opportunity for residents and visitors alike to lead healthy and active lifestyles.
 

PACT has an extended vision…

There is no one solution, magic pill or quick fix to the current problems. Therefore the mission focuses on sustainable, long-term actions and change. It’s about creating a physical-activity friendly community…Re-introducing physical activity into daily life by ensuring our communities reduce the barriers and increase the enablers. It’s about building momentum and a movement… PACT gets it… PACT are passionate about getting people moving…Pact have a mission and they are working at putting it into action by focusing on the following areas.

  • Community physical environments
  • Supportive social environments
  • Education
  • Research and monitoring
     

PACT Meetings

Meetings are held bi-monthly on the first Wednesday of the month at 2:30- 4:30, held at the Community Health Building, Bolsover Street, Rockhampton.

With such a broad focus, the promotion of active lifestyles requires coordination and commitment from a number of sectors. Even if physical activity isn’t your core business PACT need you to get involved and invite you to attend the next meeting.
